Lorraine Kelly’s two-word response as she learns Richard Madeley’s real age

Richard Madeley left his Good Morning Britain co-host Susanna Reid and fellow presenter Lorraine Kelly gobsmacked during Wednesday’s show.

Lorraine, 65, popped into the ITV studio to preview her upcoming show, sparking a question from Susanna, 54, aimed at Richard: “What did you reveal to us this morning?”

A surprised Richard answered, “For the second time on the show this morning…”, before sharing: “I’ll be 69 in May!”

Lorraine complimented him, “You’re looking good!” with Susanna chiming in, “Doesn’t he?” and Lorraine playfully adding in a two-word response, “It’s ridiculous!”.

However, a modest Richard responded, “I was just saying, honestly, I don’t think so at all”, reports the Manchester Evening News.

He proceeded to explain, “I think it’s a cultural generational thing now, most people, as long as they’re reasonably healthy, approaching 70… don’t look it anymore.”

Elsewhere on Wednesday’s Good Morning Britain, Richard halted the show briefly to reach out live on air to colleague Kate Garraway.

The episode saw Richard and Susanna chatting with Melvin Odoom for the scoop on entertainment news, which included speculation about the Celebrity Traitors line-up apparently featuring their 57-year-old co-star Kate.

Melvin, 44, humorously remarked, “None of us have been able to get hold of Kate on the phone to confirm or deny this but I don’t know about you guys, but I’m very suspicious and it makes me even more suspicious.”

Susanna humorously remarked: “She’ll make an excellent Traitor if we can’t even get hold of her!” while Melvin suggested: “I think you need to send her a message right now!” Susanna cynically responded: “She’ll neither confirm nor deny, I’m sure!” as Melvin insisted: “Let’s do it anyway!”.

As such, Richard whipped out his phone to message Kate during the live show as Melvin asked: “Have you done it?” with Richard replying: “Yeah…” and Melvin probing further: “Nothing yet?”.

The background to this exchange is that Kate is said to have become part of the Celebrity Traitors cast, a new celebrity variant of the well-liked game show by the BBC.

Kate is apparently poised to join figures like icon Stephen Fry, 67, and rugby star Joe Marler, 34, at Ardross Castle, Scotland.

Other stars rumoured for the line-up include Charlotte Church, Bob Mortimer, Alan Carr, Jonathan Ross, Joe Marler, Nick Mohammed, Tom Daley, David Olusoga, Niko Omilana, Mark Bonnar, Joe Wilkinson, Tameka Empson, Clare Balding and Paloma Faith – to name a few.

Good Morning Britain continues on weekdays at 6am on ITV and ITV X.
