The festive season has arrived, bringing joy to data, music, and marketing enthusiasts with the unveiling of Spotify Wrapped. Bad Bunny, the Puerto Rican sensation, has reclaimed his title as the most-played artist on Spotify for the fourth time, surpassing Taylor Swift. Spotify recently released its annual recap, showcasing the top songs, artists, podcasts, and other audio content that resonated with its vast user base worldwide throughout the year.
While numerous music streaming services offer year-end summaries, Spotify’s Wrapped has garnered significant anticipation since its inception a decade ago, despite facing criticism from some users. Bad Bunny emerged as the top-streamed artist globally in 2025, amassing over 19.8 billion streams. Following him on the list are Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Drake, and Billie Eilish, in that order. Swift had held the global top spot for the past two years but was overtaken by Bad Bunny, who had previously dominated from 2020 to 2022.
Bad Bunny’s album “Debi Tirar Mas Fotos” claimed the title of the most-streamed album globally, with the “KPop Demon Hunters” soundtrack and releases from 2024 by Billie Eilish, SZA, and Sabrina Carpenter following suit. The most-streamed song was “Die with a Smile” by Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga, with over 1.7 billion streams, followed by tracks from Eilish, Mars, Rose, and Bad Bunny.
Spotify’s Wrapped data collection spans from January 1 to mid-November, enabling the platform to compile personalized recaps for users by early December. To feature in Spotify Wrapped, users must listen to a minimum number of tracks for a specified duration. Listening in offline mode is also considered, provided the device reconnects to the internet before the Wrapped launch. However, listening in private mode does not contribute to rankings but counts towards total platform usage time.
Spotify has introduced new features for Wrapped 2025, including “Top Albums,” a fan leaderboard, and a “Listening Age” comparison tool. These additions aim to enhance user engagement and personalization. Notably, the “Top Genres” feature has been reinstated following user feedback from the previous year. The use of AI in compiling Wrapped has also evolved, with the platform leveraging technology to streamline operations and reach its extensive user base.
In summary, Spotify Wrapped continues to captivate music enthusiasts globally, offering personalized insights into their listening habits and preferences throughout the year.
