“Helsinki Invites Pamela Anderson to Embrace Finnish Roots”

Must read

In a bold move, the European metropolis of Helsinki is extending an invitation to Pamela Anderson to delve into her Finnish ancestry, even offering assistance in a potential name change. The renowned actress, known for her roles in “Baywatch” and “The Last Showgirl,” recently expressed her strong ties to her Finnish grandfather, Herman Hyytiäinen, whose original surname was altered to Anderson upon his arrival in Canada in 1908.

Anderson’s desire to reclaim her grandfather’s surname was highlighted in an interview with Vogue Scandinavia, where she expressed her wish to be known as Pamela Hyytiäinen. Helsinki Partners, a marketing and talent attraction company under the City of Helsinki, has launched a campaign aimed at helping Anderson embrace her Finnish heritage by becoming a Hyytiäinen.

The marketing initiative includes online ads and billboards strategically placed near Anderson’s residence on Vancouver Island. The campaign features a video ad starring Finnish actor Janne Hyytiäinen, who humorously proposes three avenues for Anderson to officially adopt the Hyytiäinen name: through marriage, adoption, or a legal name change.

Describing the initiative as “Operation Make Pamela a Hyytiäinen,” the ad emphasizes Helsinki’s status as the capital of the world’s happiest nation, enticing Anderson to consider the name change and potentially explore the city. Meanwhile, billboard ads along Ladysmith, B.C., where Anderson hails from, are specifically tailored to pique her interest in reconnecting with her Finnish roots.

Soila Lehkonen, the head of brand and public relations for Helsinki Partners, characterizes the campaign as a warm invitation for Anderson to discover Helsinki. While Anderson’s response to the campaign remains unknown, Helsinki is keen on welcoming her to explore the city and possibly guide her through the process of changing her name, should she choose to pursue it.
