Must read

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have secured first place in the CFL’s West Division and are now setting their sights on the championship. They clinched the top spot with a 27-19 win over the Toronto Argonauts, bringing their record to 12-4. This means the Riders will host the West Division final in Regina on Nov. 8.

Quarterback Trevor Harris, who had an impressive game with 23 completions out of 29 attempts for 340 yards and two touchdowns, emphasized the importance of fine-tuning their performance for the upcoming playoffs.

The Riders will wrap up their regular season with away games in Winnipeg on Oct. 17 and a home game against B.C. on Oct. 25. The West semifinal will take place on Oct. 1, with the winner advancing to the West final in Regina on Oct. 8.

Head coach Corey Mace is strategizing on utilizing the next four weeks to prepare the team for the post-season, focusing on player recovery and optimal performance.

Despite the strong effort from the Argonauts, the Riders managed to secure the win in the final moments of the game, with kicker Brett Lauther sealing the victory with his fifth field goal. Lauther, who received a game ball postgame, expressed gratitude for his teammates’ unwavering support.

Argonauts quarterback Jarret Doege displayed resilience in his third CFL start, despite facing multiple hits and a brief injury scare. Doege finished with 221 passing yards, one touchdown, and one interception, while Liram Hajrullahu continued his impressive season with four successful field goals.

Both teams displayed determination and skill in a hard-fought game, with the Riders emerging victorious and securing their position at the top of the West Division standings.
