Rapper Offset Shot Outside Florida Casino, in Stable Condition

Must read

Rapper Offset, a former member of the renowned hip-hop group Migos, was shot outside a casino in Florida and is reported to be in stable condition, according to a spokesperson on Tuesday. Offset, who was previously married to Cardi B, was receiving medical attention at a hospital following the shooting on Monday night, with his exact status undisclosed but confirmed as not life-threatening by the police.

Over three years ago, Offset’s cousin Takeoff, also a Migos member, tragically lost his life in a shooting incident at a bowling alley in Houston. The recent shooting incident occurred after a confrontation outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, just north of Miami, as confirmed by the authorities. While one person sustained injuries, the victim’s identity was not disclosed.

Law enforcement officers apprehended two individuals at the scene, including a rapper known as Lil Tjay, Tione Jayden Merritt, who was charged with disorderly conduct and driving without a valid license. Lil Tjay’s attorney, Dawn M. Florio, stated that he was not in possession of a firearm and faced no weapons-related charges. She mentioned that Lil Tjay posted bail for the charge and was expected to be released later on Tuesday.

The second individual taken into custody has not been charged yet, and investigations are ongoing to identify all parties involved, as per the police statement released on Tuesday. Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, rose to fame as part of Migos, a prominent Atlanta group known for their distinctive triplet flow and influential impact on trap music.

The group gained recognition with the 2013 hit “Versace” and achieved success with several multiplatinum singles, including “Bad and Boujee,” “Stir Fry,” “Narcos,” and “T-Shirt.” Following Takeoff’s tragic death, Migos released four albums before going on hiatus. Offset and Cardi B tied the knot in a private ceremony in 2017 but announced their divorce in 2024, sharing three children together.

In response to Takeoff’s shooting, Migos member Quavo organized an anti-gun violence summit in 2024, aiming to turn tragedy into advocacy for change. Takeoff was an unintended victim in the shooting incident, stemming from a dispute over a dice game. His untimely death added to a series of fatal shootings involving hip-hop artists like Nipsey Hussle, Pop Smoke, PnB Rock, and Young Dolph.

Offset ventured into a solo career prior to Takeoff’s passing, showcasing a unique blend of melodic and aggressive rap style. He released three solo albums: “Father of Four” in 2019, “Set It Off” in 2023, and “Kiari” in 2025. Offset described “Set It Off” as a liberating project aimed at revitalizing rap music and “Kiari” as a personal reflection of his identity and artistic rebellion.
