Erik Fleming, a licensed drug addiction counselor, has been sentenced to two years in prison for providing ketamine doses to actor Matthew Perry, leading to his death. The sentencing was delivered by Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett in a federal court in Los Angeles. Fleming expressed deep remorse for his actions before the sentence was handed down, admitting to the mistakes he made. He was the fourth of five defendants who pleaded guilty in the case related to Perry’s death in 2023.
Fleming connected Perry with Jasveen Sangha, known as the “Ketamine Queen,” a convicted drug dealer who was sentenced to 15 years in prison last month. Fleming cooperated with investigators early on, becoming the first defendant to plead guilty in August 2024. Due to his cooperation, he received a reduced sentence compared to federal guidelines.
Despite his cooperation, prosecutors highlighted Fleming’s role as a drug counselor who knowingly supplied illegal drugs to someone struggling with addiction. Defense lawyers had requested a lighter sentence, emphasizing Fleming’s efforts to make amends for his actions. Fleming admitted to procuring ketamine for Perry for financial gain and out of a misguided sense of helping a friend, expressing deep regret for the consequences that followed.
Perry, known for his role as Chandler Bing on the sitcom “Friends,” had been receiving ketamine treatments for depression. Fleming’s deliveries of ketamine to Perry’s residence ultimately led to the actor’s untimely death. The actor’s personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, administered the fatal dose of ketamine, leading to Perry’s demise. An auction of Perry’s belongings, including memorabilia from “Friends,” will benefit the foundation established in his honor following his passing.
