Bruce Springsteen Releases Protest Song “Streets of Minneapolis”

Must read

Bruce Springsteen has unveiled a new track dedicated to the residents of Minneapolis, expressing disapproval of President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement activities in the area. The song, titled “Streets of Minneapolis,” was released recently and features lyrics that highlight the city’s struggles against oppressive forces, referred to as “King Trump’s private army” by Springsteen.

The renowned artist stated that he composed and recorded the song promptly in response to a fatal incident involving federal immigration agents in Minneapolis. Springsteen specifically mentioned that the song is a tribute to the people of Minneapolis, particularly the innocent immigrant community, and in remembrance of Alex Pretti and Renee Good, the individuals affected by the unfortunate event.

In a counter statement, Abigail Jackson, a representative from the White House, emphasized the administration’s commitment to collaborating with state and local authorities to enhance public safety by removing dangerous criminal undocumented immigrants from neighborhoods. Jackson dismissed the song as an irrelevant expression of opinion containing inaccurate information.

“Streets of Minneapolis” features a gradual progression in its musical arrangement, starting with acoustic guitar and vocals and culminating in a full band production, including a harmonica solo. The song concludes with a powerful chant of “ICE Out!” echoing the sentiments conveyed throughout the track.

Springsteen’s choice of title for the song draws a parallel to his earlier track “Streets of Philadelphia,” known for its association with the film “Philadelphia” from 1993. Notably, the artist has been vocal in his criticism of President Trump, with the latter reciprocating by labeling Springsteen as “overrated.” Their public disagreements date back to Springsteen’s tour in England last year when he denounced the administration as corrupt and incompetent, prompting Trump to ridicule him as a “dried out prune of a rocker.”
