Free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has agreed to a six-game suspension imposed by the NFL following a reported failed performance-enhancing drug test last year. Beckham confirmed this decision during an appearance on the Pivot podcast on Tuesday. The NFL has informed The Associated Press that Beckham will be sidelined until Week 12.
During the podcast, the 32-year-old Beckham insisted that he was unaware of taking any performance-enhancing substances. Last season, he played nine games for the Miami Dolphins, recording career-low statistics of nine receptions for 55 yards.
Despite the setback, the seasoned NFL player expressed his desire to continue playing this season. Beckham, a former first-round pick in the 2014 draft, achieved four 1,000-yard seasons in his first five years with the New York Giants.
After being traded to the Cleveland Browns in 2019 and then moving to the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, Beckham secured a Super Bowl victory with the Rams that same year but suffered an ACL injury during the championship game.
Throughout his career, Beckham has accumulated 575 catches for 7,987 yards, ranking 119th in NFL history for total receiving yards.
