Following consultations with senior members of the royal family, Andrew made the choice to renounce his titles with the approval of the King. Despite relinquishing his titles, Andrew retains his status as a prince and remains eighth in line to the throne as the son of the late Queen Elizabeth. This decision comes amid ongoing controversies surrounding Andrew, particularly highlighted by a recent memoir by Virginia Giuffre, who accused him of sexual misconduct when she was a teenager.
