“Hockey Romance Author Rachel Reid Delays ‘Unrivaled’ Release to 2027”

Must read

Author Rachel Reid has announced a delay in the release of her upcoming hockey romance novel, “Unrivaled,” due to the challenges posed by her sudden fame and the progression of her Parkinson’s disease symptoms. Originally scheduled for release this fall, Reid shared in a recent Instagram video that the book is now expected to be postponed until June 2027.

“Unrivaled” will mark the seventh installment in Reid’s popular “Game Changer” series, centered around the story of hockey rivals turned secret lovers, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov. The series, derived from the first two books, “Heated Rivalry” and “The Long Game,” has inspired the hit Crave original series, starring Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie and catapulting Reid into the spotlight as a prominent figure in the publishing world.

Acknowledging the recent changes in her life, Reid expressed her dedication to ensuring that “Unrivaled” meets the highest standards of quality. She revealed that her ability to write has been affected by the new demands on her time, emphasizing the importance of delivering a stellar book to her readers.

In discussing the challenges she faces, Reid mentioned the progression of her Parkinson’s symptoms, which have slowed down her writing process. She disclosed that she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2023, coinciding with director Jacob Tierney’s interest in adapting her works.

Tierney’s adaptation of Reid’s novels has been a massive success, with a second season renewal on Crave and HBO Max, where it garnered high viewership ratings during its debut season. Despite the obstacles she faces, Reid remains committed to her craft, striving to overcome the physical challenges posed by her health condition.
