An investigation is currently ongoing regarding allegations made by Australian actress Ruby Rose against Katy Perry, claiming that Perry sexually assaulted her at a Melbourne nightclub many years ago. The American singer has denied these accusations. The Victoria state police in Australia announced that they are looking into claims of a “historical sexual assault” that took place in Melbourne in 2010, which aligns with Rose’s assertion of an incident nearly two decades ago at the Spice Market Nightclub in the city.
Rose made the allegations in response to a post from Complex Music on Threads, stating that Perry assaulted her at the nightclub. She mentioned that she had visited the police station and planned to provide more details on the reporting process once she regained her strength. Initially, Rose expressed disinterest in filing a police report, emphasizing the importance of releasing such experiences from one’s body.
Representatives for both Rose and Perry have been contacted by CBC News for comment, but no response has been received yet. Perry’s representative has refuted the allegations, labeling them as false and dangerous. They highlighted Rose’s history of making public accusations on social media that have been consistently denied by the individuals named.
In a series of posts, Rose, who is 40 years old, described the alleged incident from her early 20s, detailing an encounter where Perry reportedly behaved inappropriately towards her. She mentioned that it took her nearly twenty years to share the story publicly and expressed gratitude for finding her voice. The posts detailing the incident have since been removed.
Perry was recently spotted at the Coachella music festival with her partner, former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. She posted pictures and a video on Instagram reacting to singer Justin Bieber’s performance at the festival, where Bieber sang along with his old YouTube videos. Perry’s joking comment about YouTube Premium in the video was highlighted in the post that initially sparked Rose’s response.
