Must read

The initial snow of the season arrived on Sunday following a morning of rain in various regions. By 2:30 p.m. CST, a snowfall alert was issued for Hwy 135, encompassing Pelican Narrows and Sandy Bay. Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) forecasts heavy snowfall accompanied by blowing snow on Sunday evening, with accumulations of 15 to 30 cm expected by Monday afternoon, with the most substantial amounts near the Manitoba border. ECCC warns of potentially reduced visibility in the area due to heavy snow and advises against non-essential travel until conditions improve.

In the town of Davidson, located between Saskatoon and Regina, snowfall was observed by late Sunday morning. The Highway Hotline reports that highways north of Regina passing through the Humboldt region are partially covered in slush and snow. Current weather conditions, as per ECCC’s update at 2:30 p.m. CST, indicate light snowfall in Regina, Saskatoon, Lloydminster, Swift Current, Meadow Lake, and Prince Albert.

Weather and road conditions are subject to change. Apart from Highway 135, most of Saskatchewan is expected to experience light snowfall or a mix of snow and rain on Sunday evening. ECCC warns of potential localized flooding in low-lying areas and advises readiness for winter conditions at higher elevations. Strong winds with gusts reaching 60 to 80 km/h are predicted to develop on Sunday afternoon.
