The popular CBS TV series “Tracker” is relocating its production to California for its fourth season after filming in Vancouver and southern British Columbia for three seasons. Actor Justin Hartley stars in the show as a survivalist who tracks missing individuals to claim rewards. The move to Los Angeles comes after securing a substantial $48 million US tax credit, as reported by entertainment website Deadline.
“Tracker” premiered in February 2024, following the Super Bowl, and has been a ratings hit for CBS, airing on Global TV in Canada. The series was hosted by Martini Film Studios in Langley for the past three seasons. The CEO of the studio, Gemma Martini, expressed disappointment over the departure, highlighting the economic contributions the show made to various communities in the province.
Showrunner Elwood Reid expressed gratitude to the Vancouver crew for their contributions to the series. Despite leaving Vancouver, the team is excited to begin filming in Los Angeles due to the tax incentives offered. The California Governor’s office praised the decision, emphasizing the positive impact on local job creation and businesses.
California’s $750 million incentive program approved “Tracker” and 15 other productions for tax credits, with “Tracker” receiving the largest credit for qualified expenditures exceeding $129 million. The relocation marks a significant loss for Vancouver’s film industry, already experiencing the conclusion of other notable productions like “Watson” and “Fire Country.”
Despite these setbacks, Vancouver remains a hub for various film and television projects, with ongoing productions attracting international attention.
