“Atlético Ottawa Clinches Spot in Canadian Premier League Final”

Must read

Atlético Ottawa secured a place in the final of the Canadian Premier League by triumphing 2-1 over Forge FC in a thrilling comeback on Sunday. The victory on the road at Hamilton Stadium in the championship semifinal sets up a decisive showdown at TD Place on November 9 for Atlético.

Despite finishing just two points behind Ottawa in the CPL standings, Forge FC, who topped the table, still have a chance to make it to the final if they win the contender semifinal in the upcoming weekend.

The match on Sunday witnessed Forge FC taking the lead in the 23rd minute through a goal from David Choinière. However, Ottawa equalized ten minutes later courtesy of Gabriel Antinoro’s strike. In the early stages of the second half, Atlético’s forward Sam Salter, the record holder for most goals scored in a CPL season, sealed the victory with a decisive header.

The two teams met four times during the regular season, with three matches ending in draws and Forge FC emerging victorious in the fourth encounter.
