Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is gearing up for a significant nine-day journey across Malaysia, Singapore, and South Korea later this month to participate in two key international summits.
Carney’s itinerary includes the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit in Kuala Lumpur, where he is slated to engage in discussions on trade with Malaysia’s prime minister. Following this event, he will meet with Singapore’s prime minister and regional business figures to explore ways to eliminate trade barriers and attract global investments.
The trip will culminate in South Korea, where Carney will join a gathering of Asia-Pacific economic leaders in Gyeongju. During his stop in South Korea, he intends to visit the shipyard run by Hanwha Ocean, a top contender for a contract to construct new Canadian submarines.
The Prime Minister’s Asian tour is scheduled from October 24 to November 1.
