Apart from her success on TV shows like RuPaul’s Drag Race U.K. and Strictly Come Dancing, La Voix was unknowingly involved in a major jewel heist in London in 2009. The incident recently made headlines again, shedding light on her past.
At the time of the robbery, Chris Dennis, also known as La Voix, was working as a makeup artist in London. He recalled providing makeup services to two individuals who requested an aging makeup look for what he believed was a music video shoot. Little did he know that these clients were actually the masterminds behind the £40 million jewelry heist at Graff Diamonds.
Dennis detailed how he and his assistant applied prosthetics and makeup to the men’s faces, although the clients expressed dissatisfaction with the realism of the disguises. Following the completion of the job, the men paid in cash and left in a taxi. It wasn’t until the next day when Dennis saw a newspaper featuring CCTV images of the same men involved in the robbery.
Upon realizing his unwitting involvement, Dennis promptly contacted the authorities and cooperated with the investigation. The suspects were eventually apprehended, thanks to a series of missteps that led to their arrests. The stolen jewels, valued at millions, were likely broken up and sold in different markets.
Although the incident was a frightening experience for Dennis, he later shared a humorous anecdote about the suspects’ lack of intelligence, as revealed by the police. Despite the ordeal, Dennis has not publicly addressed his role in the heist resurgence, focusing instead on his current endeavors, including his participation in Strictly Come Dancing, where he expressed his joy in a recent Instagram post.
