Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen and the Artemis II crew were warmly welcomed at the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) headquarters following their expedition to the far side of the moon. Hansen expressed gratitude to the gathered crowd in Longueuil, Que., acknowledging their essential role in the mission’s success. This 10-day journey led Hansen, mission commander Reid Wiseman, and astronauts Victor Glover and Christina Koch further from Earth than any previous human exploration.
During the reception, Koch highlighted the connection she and Glover had to Canada, having undergone training there, making the CSA feel like a second home. Minister Mélanie Joly and members of the public engaged the crew in a Q&A session, joined by Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jenni Gibbons, who was part of the support team at NASA’s Mission Control Center.
Reflecting on the mission, Wiseman emphasized the diverse perspectives brought by the international makeup of the Artemis II crew, emphasizing how this diversity fortified the mission’s objectives and fostered global unity.
