Ontario Allocates $75 Million for Anti-Tariff Campaign Targeting U.S. Republican Audience
Ontario has committed $75 million towards running a fresh anti-tariff commercial in the United States, specifically directed at Republican voters. The ad features a recording of former U.S. president Ronald Reagan from 1987 discussing the ineffectiveness of tariffs in the long run.
Premier Doug Ford, a staunch admirer of Reagan, believes that his voice will resonate with Republicans, emphasizing the detrimental impact tariffs can have on Americans. The premier’s office revealed that the advertisement will debut this week on Newsmax and Bloomberg, with plans to expand its reach to other major networks including Fox News, Fox Sports, NBC, CBS, CNBC, ESPN, and ABC, as well as their local affiliates. Additionally, the ad will be broadcasted on the local stations of Comcast, Spectrum, and Sinclair Group.
This initiative is not the first of its kind by the Ontario government, as previous anti-tariff campaigns emphasized the enduring bond between Canada, Ontario, and the United States.
