Tributes are pouring in from the hip-hop community for the late Tay Keith, a Grammy-nominated music producer. The 29-year-old was discovered deceased in his Nashville residence during a welfare check conducted by authorities on Thursday, as reported by the Metro Nashville Police Department. While the exact cause of death remains unknown, no foul play is suspected, and an autopsy is scheduled to determine the circumstances.
Known as Brytavious Chambers at birth, Keith collaborated with renowned artists such as Drake, Beyoncé, Lil Nas X, and Eminem. At the age of 23, he received his first Grammy nomination in 2019 for his contribution to Travis Scott’s hit track “Sicko Mode.” His exceptional work on Drake and 21 Savage’s “Rich Flex” earned him another Grammy nomination in 2024. Moreover, he earned a spot on the prestigious Forbes 30 under 30 music list last year.
In the wake of his passing, Memphis music producer Hitkidd and DJ Scheme from Florida are among those paying tribute to Keith. BlocBoy JB, a Memphis rapper and one of Keith’s initial collaborators, expressed his shock and sorrow on Instagram, lamenting the sudden loss of his dear friend whom he conversed with regularly.
