The Canadian Screen Awards week has begun with the announcement of winners at the Children’s Television Awards in Toronto. The event marked the first of six ceremonies. Among the 16 winners are Josette Jorge for Best supporting performer in children’s or youth category for “The Unstoppable Jenny Garcia” and Will Arnett for Best voice performance in “Super Team Canada.”
Other winners include “Toopy and Binoo Fabulous Adventures” for Best writing in the pre-school category, “Thomas & Friends: The Christmas Letter Express” for Best original music in animation, and “Old Enough! – Where’s The Ginger, Please?” for Best picture editing in children’s or youth category.
Katie Boland received the Best direction award for children’s or youth for “Macy Murdoch — Tick, Tick, Gone.” “Unicorn Academy — Winter Solstice” won Best sound in animation, while “Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum — I am Jackie Robinson” secured awards for Best writing and Best direction in animation. The Canada Media Fund kids’ choice award went to “Mittens & Pants.”
Additionally, “Daniel Tiger’s Neighbourhood” won Best pre-school program or series, and “Odd Squad” received awards for Best lead performer in children’s or youth for Asha Soetan and Best children’s or youth fiction program or series. “Super Team Canada” also took home awards for Best animated program or series and Best voice performance for Will Arnett.
