Céline Dion made a comeback in the music scene with the release of her latest single on Friday. Titled “Dansons,” which translates to “Let’s dance” in English, the romantic French-language ballad is accompanied by a music video that exudes romance. Set in Paris, the video showcases various couples dancing in public spaces with carefree abandon.
This new single precedes Dion’s upcoming return to the stage with 16 scheduled shows at the Paris La Défense Arena from September 12 to October 17. Speculation about her comeback was confirmed following mysterious signs appearing in Paris featuring lyrics from her iconic songs like “My Heart Will Go On” and “The Power of Love.”
Having faced health issues that led to the cancellation of her previous world tour, Dion’s return to the spotlight is highly anticipated. “Dansons,” written by renowned songwriter Jean-Jacques Goldman, is her first French release in over a decade and her first original song in years, following her last release in 2023 for the film “Love Again.”
Dion and Goldman have a history of successful collaborations, having previously worked on projects like Dion’s “Encore un soir” in 2016 and her best-selling French-language album “D’eux” in 1995. The singer’s battle with stiff person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder affecting her singing ability, led to the cancellation of her Courage world tour in 2023, which had already been postponed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
After a hiatus from public performances, Dion returned to the stage in July 2024 during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris, where she sang Edith Piaf’s “Hymn to Love.” She also made a memorable appearance in November of the same year at a fashion show in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, honoring designer Elie Saab’s 45-year career.
