Must read

As Thanksgiving weekend approaches, whether you are preparing for a feast with loved ones or taking advantage of the extended break to unwind, it’s essential to be aware of the operational status of various establishments in Windsor-Essex.

City services

City of Windsor administrative offices will be shuttered on Monday in observance of Thanksgiving, with the next council meeting scheduled for Monday, Oct. 20.

On the holiday, the city’s 311 customer contact center will be closed, but individuals can utilize the 311 self-service online platform via the mobile app. For municipal emergencies such as fallen trees or sewer issues, contact 519-255-6326.

While parking ticket payment offices will be offline on Monday, online payment options are available. Waste collection services will not be affected by the holiday, but public drop-off and household chemical waste depots will be closed.

The Homelessness and Housing Help Hub will be operational 24/7 throughout the holiday, reachable at (519) 253-3806 for assistance.

Transit Windsor buses will follow the Sunday/holiday schedule on Monday, with the office closed for the day.

Parks, recreation, and culture

Community centers, customer care facilities, and arenas will be closed on Monday, except for pre-booked appointments.

Facilities such as the Windsor International and Aquatic Training Centre, Gino and Liz Marcus Community Pool, WFCU Community, and Adventure Bay waterpark pool will remain closed. However, park splash pads will be accessible from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., along with the Lakeview Park Marina office and fuel dock.

For those interested in library services, the Windsor Public Library will be shut on Sunday and Monday, but digital resources can be accessed online. The Chimczuk Museum, Francois Baby House, and the Streetcar at the Legacy Beacon will also be closed on Monday.
