Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer is showing signs of improvement ahead of a crucial game in the team’s playoff run. Manager John Schneider revealed that Springer was recovering swiftly after being hit by a pitch in the American League Championship Series Game 5. The Blue Jays are set to face the Seattle Mariners in Game 6, with the Mariners leading the best-of-seven series 3-2.
Schneider provided an update during a press conference at Rogers Centre, stating that Springer had undergone a CT scan which showed no major issues, just a contusion. Despite the incident, Springer is receiving treatment and is expected to participate in team activities as he continues to recover.
Following the pitch that struck Springer on the knee, the 36-year-old briefly struggled but managed to walk off the field with assistance and was substituted by Joey Loperfido. Schneider confirmed that Springer received treatment and was scheduled to test his knee during the team workout.
Schneider expressed confidence in Springer’s ability to overcome the injury, emphasizing his resilience and determination to push through. The final decision for Springer’s participation in the upcoming critical Game 6 rests on his confirmation that he is fit to play.
Meanwhile, shortstop Bo Bichette, who has been sidelined due to injury, is gradually progressing but has yet to resume running the bases. Bichette, known for his impressive batting average, has been focusing on his swing rehabilitation as he aims for a return to the field.
Despite challenges with injuries, the Toronto Blue Jays remain optimistic as they face the Seattle Mariners in Game 6, seeking to turn the series in their favor.
