Leylah Fernandez Reaches Japan Open Semis

Canada’s Leylah Fernandez has advanced to the semifinals of the Japan Open tennis tournament. She secured her spot in the semis by defeating Slovakia’s Rebecca Sramkova with a score of 7-6 (2), 6-3 during the quarterfinals held on Thursday. The tennis player from Laval, Quebec, showcased a strong performance, recording one ace and three double faults while successfully breaking her opponent’s serve on four out of nine opportunities.

Sramkova, on the other hand, managed one ace but struggled with seven double faults. She capitalized on two out of three break-point chances during the match. Fernandez is now set to compete against the victor of the match between Switzerland’s Viktorija Golubic and Romania’s Sorana Cirstea in the upcoming round.
