Renowned comedian and late-night host, John Oliver, is set to fulfill a long-held aspiration by making an appearance on a daytime soap opera. ABC’s “General Hospital” announced that Oliver will have a significant guest role in a three-episode arc, starting this Thursday and continuing on July 3 and July 6.
Earlier this year, during an episode of HBO’s “Last Week Tonight,” Oliver expressed his desire to be cast in a daytime soap opera. He humorously offered himself to soap operas, requesting a unique character role involving drama like murder or slapping, emphasizing that he wanted to portray a character, not himself.
In response to Oliver’s plea, “General Hospital” welcomed him to Port Charles, keeping the details of his role confidential. A first-look image released by ABC shows Oliver in a navy blue suit, exuding a serious demeanor alongside two men in tactical gear.
Executive producer Frank Valentini praised Oliver for his professionalism and humor on set, highlighting his integral role in the storyline. Oliver, in turn, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, calling it an honor to be part of the esteemed show’s history.
Fans eagerly anticipate Oliver’s debut on “General Hospital” and await the unfolding of his character’s interactions in Port Charles.
