The Women’s Professional Baseball League has announced that the inaugural season will feature teams in New York, Boston, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Co-founded by Justine Siegal, the league, set to launch in 2026 with six teams, including a regular season, playoffs, and an all-star game, marks the first professional women’s baseball league since the dissolution of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League in 1954.
With an initial launch of four teams, each comprising 15 players, the league’s draft will include top talents from the summer tryouts, alongside notable players like Mo’ne Davis, Kelsie Whitmore, and Japanese pitcher Ayami Sato. All games in the 2026 season will be played at a neutral venue, with the locations set to be disclosed later. New York, Boston, Los Angeles, and San Francisco were chosen due to their market size and strong baseball fan base.
