Stellantis announced on Tuesday a global recall of over 1.3 million Jeep SUVs and trucks due to fire-related concerns. The company advised owners to park their vehicles away from structures and other vehicles until the necessary repairs are completed.
The recall affects Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator models from 2021 to 2025, with an issue identified in the electrical connection of the electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring. In rare cases, this issue could cause combustible materials to overheat, posing a risk of vehicle fires.
The recall spans approximately 1.08 million units in the United States, 106,000 in Canada, 23,000 in Mexico, and around 125,000 in other global markets, according to Stellantis. The company stated that the recall process will include inspections and potential repairs or replacements of the wiring harness or electric hydraulic power steering pump.
Stellantis is actively working to expedite the availability of remedies and aims to have the recall fix in place by July at the latest. Although there has been one reported injury associated with the issue, Stellantis confirmed no accidents or fatalities have occurred as a result.
