The Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day parade is a staple of Thanksgiving weekend in the area. On Monday morning, hundreds of spectators gathered along Weber Street to enjoy the parade. Despite the cool 11°C temperature at the start of the parade in downtown Kitchener at 9:30 a.m., the mix of sun and clouds provided warmth for the audience.
Various parade highlights included a pipe band performance, festhall ambassadors on a float, dancers showcasing their skills, a large inflatable float of Onkle Hans on a beer keg, band members playing music, and Tante Frieda greeting the crowd from a float.
Before the parade, the Onkel Hans Food Drive was actively collecting non-perishable food items and monetary donations.
