Police authorities in York Region have issued a public alert following a recent coyote incident in Markham, Ontario, on Sunday. According to reports, a child was bitten by a coyote in a park located near Roy Rainey and Bur Oak avenues at approximately 7:30 p.m. The child, aged around five years old, was promptly transported to the hospital, with the bite fortunately not posing a life-threatening risk.
Residents are advised to exercise caution when visiting parks in the vicinity of McCowan Road and 16th Avenue in Markham. This incident follows a similar occurrence last week where a 16-year-old girl was bitten by a coyote in the area of Mingay and Bur Oak avenues, resulting in minor injuries and hospitalization.
Authorities emphasize the importance of staying vigilant, maintaining a safe distance from wildlife, and refraining from approaching or attempting to feed coyotes to ensure public safety.
